Land seismic acquisition, as we know it, is chang-ing. Acquisition methods are continuously evolv-ing to satisfy more advanced, multifaceted surveyand imaging requirements. `Megachannel' surveys,designed for complex hydrocarbon targets such as fracturedshale, are more often being conducted in difficult, hard-to-access terrain; at the same time, oil and gas companies areescalating their demands for more HSE-friendly acquisitionand cost control. Increasing pressures for higher returnson investment are forcing segments of the industry - fromE&P producers to service companies - to develop tech-nology-driven solutions which improve both operationalproductivity and image quality.
