摘要

Speckled shrimp (Metapenaeus monoceros) and green tiger shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus) are widely caught in the eastern Mediterranean coastal waters and have a high economical value. This study determined seasonal changes, at four different points in time, in fatty acid composition of these two shrimp species. Palmitic, stearic, oleic, palmitooleic, arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acid were found be the most abundant fatty acids in both species. Fatty acid profile, which is tabulated, was affected by season, with highest eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid recorded during the winter in both species.
