Our information indicates that the iron ore industry had committed projects for the addition of 647 million tonnes of capacity, equivalent to 29% of the industry's capacity of 2.24 billion tonnes at the end of 2009. Of this, 169 m tonnes of this total was scheduled for completion during 2010 and a further 85 m tonnes in 2011. Of this addition, 41 m tonnes was capacity for pellets. Approximately 397 m tonnes (60%) is in Australia and 111 m (17%) tonnes in Brazil.
