Able Labs meltdown results in layoff of 200 employees; new decree possible, unless company folds

The laboratory control woes at Able Laboratories, Cranbury, NJ, which resulted in the company suspending operations May 23 and issuing a voluntary Class II recall of all 46 of its drug products, have now claimed the jobs of approximately half of its 420 employees. "Due to [its] recently announced suspension of manufacturing operations, the Company has reduced its staff by approximately 200 manufacturing and other employees," according to a May 27 press release.
