Business as usual is no longer the case in the wood flooring industry. Since Hoboken Wood Flooring, the country's largest distributor, went out of business, the trade has more closely resembled a surreal game of musical chairs as suppliers clamor for distribution in a market shakeout that is likely to take months to play out. Some of Hoboken's larger suppliers have been quietly but intently exploring new distribution avenues, but many marginally sized companies have been left to forge new business partnerships at a time when many wholesalers are seeing revenues drop by 20 percent or more.
