The laminate flooring herringbone patterns that were the latest craze at Surfaces two years ago are now overstocked across the country, the victim of an industry-wide launch that never quite clicked with consumers. "We simply stopped producing it," said Claes Wennerth, president, Alloc, one of the first suppliers to launch the pattern. "I'd love to see it out in the market but no one wants it." The pattern never took off at retail, according to industry insiders, because consumers perceive the pattern to be old fashioned and difficult to install.
