BASF's Uvinul light stabilisers approved for food-contact plastics

Several products in BASF's range of Uvinul light stabilisers have received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA)for food-contact applications.Uvinul 5050H is a sterically hindered amine,which prevents plastics from degrading by scavenging the free radicals that are formed when plastics are exposed to ultraviolet light.According to BASF,applications include woven tape bags,packaging films and milk containers,as well as in fibres,greenhouse plastic films and injection-moulded plastic parts.
