A reconfigurable tooling system was developed that used a porous state-change material consisting of glass microspheres held together with a small amount of binder when in its solid state.The thermal-mechanical performance of the state-change material could be affected by the characteristics of the microspheres and binder.The objectives of this paper were to determine the effect of microsphere conditioning and binder formulation on the properties of the solid form of the state-change material.
