Agrium increases offer for CF Industries

AGRIUM TODAY announced an increase in its exchange offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of CF Industries Holdings, Inc. The offer follows CF investor call March 23 which blasted Agrium's offer for CF, and to discuss its renewed offer to negotiate with Terra. At the conference call earlier this week, CF Chairman Stephen Wilson argued Agrium's offer was inadequate, and that CF's performance was superior to Agrium's in recent years. CF said Agrium's investments in nitrogen complexes at Kenai AK, Profertil Argentina and MOPCO Egypt all suffered significant problems that cost Agrium money in asset write-downs, or government imposed caps on prices.
