China adds special tariff to existing export taxes

IN A further move to curb exports, the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the National Customs Office have imposed a special tariff of 100% on exports of fertilizers, intermediates and fertilizer raw materials from China, effective 20 April. The special tariff is to be added to existing export taxes, where applicable, and is to remain in force through to 30 September 2008. An announcement to this effect was made by the two government departments on 17 April.
