PotashCorp: Record potash volumes, sees demand staying strong

OFFSHORE POTASH shipments from North American producers for the second quarter of this year were 23% higher than in the same period in 2010 and reached a record 5.9 million mt for the first half of 2011, according to Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan. "Key spot-market potash buyers moved aggressively to secure sufficient volumes to fill immediate needs," the company said in its second quarter ended June 30 statement. "With demand putting pressure on global supply capabilities, producers operated at or near record production levels in an attempt to keep pace."
