A continuous liquid level fiber optic sensor based on a combination of one or more plastic optical fibers (POF) and a hollow metallic waveguide (HMW) is here described. The purpose of using hollow metallic waveguides is to increase the sensing distance of conventional displacement sensors based on optical fibers and adapted for continuous level measurement. The following reasons should be taken into account.
