As reported earlier, international suppliers havedeclined to reduce the price of potash delivered under supplycontract for the current financial year. Major importers areseeking reductions of $36/mt due to the fall of the rupee byabout 15% during the last three months to around INR52.2/$1. The importers say the resulting higher prices tofarmers are destroying demand following the end of retailprice controls this year. Retail prices for potash are due toreach about INR 12,000/mt ($229/mt) in December, doublethe average in 2010.
