Despite the obsession of sharemarket intermediaries with short-term trades, a huge base of investors is still committed to holding asset-strong stocks over the long term, especially those with recurring earnings and dividend growth. Coca-Cola Amatil (CCL) is one of just three stocks among our 300 largest listed companies that are based on food and beverage processing. Takeovers from North America and Europe and, in the past two or three years, increasingly from Asia, have decimated the number of Australian-owned listed companies in the sector.
