Additional Risks When Using a TIC

Last month we looked at two common scenarios that put firefighters at risk when using a thermal imaging camera (TIC) to navigate structures in dangerous environments. In each scenario, the common theme that emerged was a growing sense of firefighter overconfidence or complacency when using the TIC. This false sense of security can lead firefighters to abandon their basic firefight-ing skills and can quickly put them in harms way; mistakes can happen that can lead to tragic results. This month, we look at some additional risks that firefighters commonly take when using a TIC to navigate structures.
