Rotation shakes the future of mixing

Proper mixing is one of the most important features of preparing an animal feed. Every prepared kilogram of feed has to contain exactly the same ingredients as the next one. Mixers are therefore becoming increasingly more advanced. To find out wheredevelopments lead us, we spoke to Dieter Neuschutz, sales director of Forberg, the Norwegian specialist in mixing equipment. "Rotating mixers combine a high mixing homogeneity and a short mixing time with the discharge behaviour and convenience of a cone bin", says Neuschutz. "Besides that. there are far more features to include in a rotating mixer, such as the application of vacuum." The drawings (1 to 6) show the manner in which a rotating mixer operates. Position 1 is the position where the mixer is filled. In thisso-called 0 deg position, the product is filled through a butterfly valve. This position is also used for mixing and coating applications, such as the vacuum coating of pellets.
