The launch of the latest arable stewardship initiative "Chlorpyrifos: Say NO to DRIFT" called for swift action from growers and operators in introducing new application guidelines. Now, with this season's succession of chlorpyrifos treatments drawingto a close. Cereals 2012 is a chance to take stock and explore these newly introduced application measures, which are to remain conditions of chlorpyrifos use. "It's critical we demonstrate the new campaign is able to deliver a significant reduction in the risk to water by voluntary means," stresses Duncan Connabeer, technical support manager at Hutchinsons. Chlorpyrifos is a key insecticide component of crop protection armouries, helping producers tackle pests such as wheat bulb fly, orange wheat blossom midge and Icatherjackets, as well as pests in field vegetables and grassland.
