Ten years ago Guy Watson was delivering vegetables out of the boot of a 2CV in the village of Totnes. Today, Riverford Organic Vegetables produce is delivered to 2,500 homes all over Devon and 35 retail outlets per week and ha a turnover of 4.6 million. The company is the UK's largest independent producer of organic vegetables, with 750 acres producing 85 varieties. The entrepreneurial driving force which has taken the Watson family from small business to major player in 10 years is now moving in anew expansion direction: franchising. This thrust is set to take the company's expansion up to the Midlands.
