The Edwards family started to diversify into tourism at Westermill Farm, near Exford, Devon, over 40 years ago by setting aside a field for campers. Today the campsite remains, hut Scandinavian cottages and holiday lodges havp also been added, as well as a farm shop Belting beef, lamb and pork products marketed for the visitors to cook on their barbecues. Although the stock numbers have been reduced, the farm remain? very much an integral part of the Edwards family's life, and indeed the tourism business. "If I could stop the tourism side and just farm, then I would," admits Oliver Ed wards, who runs Westermill Farm with his wife Jill. "But I was brought up this way and have got used to having very little privacy and to cope with balancing my efforts between the stock and the general public. Besides which, we run the tourism side of the business so we can keep farming here."
