Methods for testing the resistance of packaging against accidental ingestion of harmful products by children are contained in a new International Standard. ISO 8317, Child-resistant packaging - Requirements and testing procedures for reclosable packages, is expected to facilitate the development of improve child-resistant packaging and, in so doing, reduce the incidence of accidental ingestion of potentially harmful products by children.
