MARK Stewart writes - Readers will be interested to know that the work of Margaret Agnes Rope (born 1882) is at last to get a well-deserved boost. Classed as a 'Later Arts & Crafts' style stained-glass artist, her creative pieces can be seen in over 40 churches across four continents. This year, her achievements are to be profiled in a major exhibition, the first to be dedicated solely to her life and works. Amateur enthusiasts of 'Marga' have gathered together a collection of her works, which will be exhibited at Shrewsbury Museum from September 2016 to January 2017. Shrewsbury is where Margaret Agnes Rope was born and where she lived for much of her life. It is known that Marga took seriously the Arts & Crafts ideal of being heavily involved with the making of the work. So the exhibition also looks at the way the Arts & Crafts movement with which she was associated, developed in Shropshire.
