摘要

Inarrowly avoided such an incident in March with the birth of my son Tely Skalkos. Now don't get me wrong... I did know my wife Sandy was pregnant. And I did have a plan in place to take some time off work when the baby arrived without it causing a disruption to nay workflow at the office. In fact, I had a plan in place to deal with just about everything that might happen. Key people who I needed to be in touch with during my wife's due date were contacted in advance to let them know I would not be available to correspond with them during that week. The organizers of a trade show I was expected to attend were notified that I might not be able to make it if the baby arrived just prior to the show. A replacement had been designated to sit in on a very important meeting that week should I not be able to attend. A back-up date for a conference call was pre-arranged in case I could not make the original scheduled conference call. And most importantly, a baby sitter, my mother, was scheduled to stay with us the week the baby was due to watch over my nine year old step-daughter in case my wife and I had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night.
