It is-true that fads can fade as quickly as: they rise. But it seems equally true that some trends and patterns which happen less suddenly may also remain more durable. Such may well be the case for pultruded fibreglass window and door systems. While such products have been in existence for better than 25 years, they have only recently become a much more significant part of the fenestration industry, both in light commercial as well as residential. And there are a whole host of factors at work. First, the marketplace has clearly become much more receptive in recent years. Interest in a variety of finishes and colours has been expanding steadily. Colours ranging from near black 'simulated iron' to custom colour matches are driving the need for innovation. An expanding interest in wood finishes, such as mahogany and cherry in addition to oak and pine, is drawing interest. The fibreglass window industry has the capability to address such needs due to the unique characteristics of the material, especially the strength and stability compared to other materials.
