Wringing moisture from the air

Harvesting water from fog offers inexpensive and low technology water for forestry, agricultural and forestry use, writes Serena Lim. Few people are even aware that fog, formed from tiny droplets of water, has the potential to solve the problems of many communities. Yet in one fishing village in Chile, fog collectors are producing an average of 11,000 litres of water a day--enough to provide 340 villagers of Chungungo with over 30 litres per person, per day.
