The Canadian flora is rich in flowering plant species with high diversity and significant potential for commercial floriculture. Although the international scientific and horticultural community has recognized the importance of collection and conservation of plant gene pool and its evaluation for economic traits, not much emphasis has yet been given to the evaluation of Canadian species for commercial purposes.
