I guess it is part of getting older and we do look back but I try to not see things through rose coloured glasses. Our pure bred poultry scene is always influenced by outside circumstances, however I am virtually always the optimist and cannot see theend of pure bred poultry keeping in the foreseeable future. During the last few years we have gone through many challenges and yet keeping poultry remains as popular asever. I his is shown by the number of calls I get suggesting I must be able to find the caller any breed that there is. It is crazy but Indian Runner ducks account for 75% of the enquiries and I am having to restrict people to a pair or a single duck. At The Royal Show and Royal Norfolk recently it seemed as though most breeds of large and bantam chickens were on most peoples lists. You don't only end up with poultry enquiries but it extends into Quail and yesterday at Driffield, Guinea Fowl. I Have just received a copy of a USA magazine, Backyard Poultry, with an article entitled "Guineas in the Garden." I haven't had chance to read how that can work.
