IN some agricultural industries sustainable, innovative farming is reluctantly accepted as a way of the future but for third-generation horticultural growers Wayne and Leanne Bom, innovation is a tradition. The Borns grow gourmet tomatoes on a 270-hectare farm, Koorelah Farms - one of the largest tomato farms in Australia - in Bowen, North Queensland. The farm supplies Coles, sending produce to distribution centres in Queensland, NSW and Victoria during the annual harvest from June to October. Koorelah tomatoes also find their way to wholesalers in those states while a weekly shipment is sent to Tasmania as well.
