Exxon Builds US ’Manufacturing Powerhouse’

Exxon Mobil unveiled Monday a 10-year, $20 billion investment program to expand its refining, processing and petrochemicals production capacity along the US Gulf Coast, all with an eye toward exports. The program, which the US supermajor has dubbed “Growing the Gulf,” kicked off in 2013 as it became clear that the shale oil and gas revolution taking shape in the US onshore would provide a plethora of cheap or relatively advantaged feedstocks that could support a domestic manufacturing renaissance.
