Tom "Black Jack" Ketchum was born in San Saba County, Texas on Oct. 31, 1863. Tom "Black Jack" Ketchum, like so many other personalities who come galloping out of western trails and tales of lost treasures, lived a very exciting and what, to some, would be an alluring life. Ketchum was a cowboy, cattle driver and an outlaw and it's the outlaw part of his life that reads like a dime store adventure novel so many wide-eyed boys read in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
