Construction was hampered by the largest monsoonal rains the region had seen in seven years which lashed down in 2010, delaying the plant's commission phase back to a mid-2010 date. Accepting the weather hassles and extending the time-frame has seen Phuoc Son emerge as a smooth operation the management and ground staff are clearly proud of. Since Phuoc Son came online in June, the ore transport has stopped, and the Bong Mieu team can now look into the options that near-mine expansion can provide.
