Linde, Consol, APG Team Up on Hybrid Diesel-LNG Gen-Sets for Drilling Rigs

Industrial gas giant Linde announced September 27 that it's teaming up with American Power Group (APG) and coalatural-gas producer Consol Energy in a test of hybrid diesel-liquefied natural gas (LNG) generator-sets for drilling rigs in Pennsylvania. "The test is being conducted by Consol Energy's gas division," according to Linde. "Consol Energy has active exploration and production operations in the Marcellus and Utica shales [and] has been testing the [LNG/diesel-fuel] solution in three diesel engine-based gensets to produce power used by drilling rigs."
