A 220,000 barrel-per-day (b/d) oil refinery at Coryton, Essex, U.K., will remain open for at least another week although a temporary deal to keep it open expired May 16, the Thurrock Gazette reported. The plant, which employs 1,000 people, is at risk of closure unless an agreement can be reached to save it. A shipment of crude oil arrived earlier this week, which will keep it operational while administrators try a last-ditch bid to broker a deal for the site.
