Mitsubishi, Hitachi Complete JV for Thermal-Power Generation Systems

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) announced June 11 that it concluded a definitive agreement for a joint venture (JV) with Hitachi for “business integration centered on the thermal-power generation systems.” MHI and Hitachi will hold 65% and 35% interest, respectively, in the JV, which will officially launch January 1, 2014. The rationale for the JV, according to MHI, is that “the global market has continued to expand, driven by the growth engines of China and other emerging countries, while environmental awareness around the world has increased.
