Shear wave attenuation profile from sonic dipole well-log data

A shear wave attenuation profile is extracted from dipole waveform well-log data. The method is demonstrated by applying it to synthetic data, and then to monopole and dipole field data for a hard formation. The attenuation profiles for the two types of field data agree remarkably well. [References: 10]
