摘要

It is known that glasses based on rare-earth oxides and sulfides,in which the 4f shells are either absent altogether or completely occupied,are used as matrices,whereas the rare-earth ions play the role of catalysts.Glasses of this type possess specific luminescence properties,are transparent to infrared radiation,and absorb ultraviolet radiation.A special composition of rare-earth oxide glasses absorbing neutrons has been designed recently.The purpose of this work was to determine the boundaries of the glass formation region in the La_2O_3-Ga_2S_3-Pr_2O_3 ternary system,which is of interest for the design of new glasses with the above properties.
