Abelia in your garden is like the reliable cousin in your family. Not knockout gorgeous but nice and sweet.Long blooming and deer resistant. Helen Dillon, the fabulous gardener from Dublin Ireland, loves her abelia. In her book On Gardening she says,"A pleasant plant is rather like a pleasant person. On the few occasions you notice them, you remark, 'How nice,' and pass on. Abelia x grandiflora is one such. I have grown it for 20 years. It unfailingly blooms in summer and early autumn in a vague sort of way with clusters of pinkish white flowers on graceful arching foliage."
