My wife does her best to plan a proper raised-bed garden, but odd things sprout and flourish much to her surprise and mine.Over the years she has learned to identify sunchokes, garlic chives and other "invasive" species I've planted surreptitiously. Some have been yanked out. I keep sneaking things in.Last fall she turned up some red-skinned sweet potatoes with creamy white flesh. They had been growing like weeds. "Where did these come from?" she demanded. "I dunno," I mumbled while averting my eyes.
