Ethane Margin Revives

Mid-Month Spot Margins Better.We carried a negative story on Gulf Coast ethane margins on March 6.Our March 13 issue calculated with prices and costs at the end of February,locked in for all of March,showed C_2 as barely break-even for a processor fetching Mont Belvieu liquids prices and paying Henry Hub-based gas shrinkage.But if you examine spot prices prevailing on or about March 15,what you see is 8.77￠/gal for such a South Louisiana processor,after factoring in transportation cost to the frac towers in East Texas.That's as calculated by Peter Fasullo at EnVantage Consultants in Houston.
