WRI Working Group.The idea of establishing a working group focused on water-rock interactions under the International Association for Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry was formulated by M.G.Val-yashko(Department of Geochemistry,Moscow State University)in 1970,during the International Symposium on Hydrogeochemistry and Biogeochemistry that was held in Tokyo.This idea received support from the President of LAGS,Prof.E.Ingerson,and the Secretary General of IAGS,Prof.K.Sugowara,at the 24th International Geological Congress in Montreal in 1972.It was decided to establish the Working Group on Water-Rock Interaction(WRI)headed by Dr.D.K.White(United States),who became its first chairman.
