Canada to remain net exporter for next 20 years - CERI

Canada will likely remain a net exporter for the next two decades, despite US output continuing to rise, according to a forecast released this week by the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI). The CERI Gas Market Review estimated that domestic production would likely reach 21 Bcf/day (217.1 Bcm/year) by 2037 - a 33% gain over rates reported by BP for 2015. Over the same period, Canadian demand was expected to rise to 18 Bcf/day (186 Bcm/year) by 2037 - over 80% higher than in 2015 - on the back of expected growth in population and the Canadian economy, coupled with fuel switching away from coal-fired power generation.
