Sonatrach and Eni renegotiate tax burden in upstream blocks

Algerian state-owned oil and gas company Sonatrach is in talks with Italian Eni with a view to redefining the tax burden they each bear in blocks where the two are partners, as part of the 2007 hydrocarbon law, according to an annual report filed this week by Eni to the US Security and Exchange Commission. According to the law Sonatrach should take on higher tax burden, but it seems to be opposing this.
