One of the main features of the LNG market today is the very large amount of planned capacity chasing a limited amount of market growth. This situation must inevitably mean that many projects will end up being delayed or cancelled. This process is hardly new in LNG (or any other commodity business), and the winnowing out of projects is a familiar part of the competitive process. But what characterizes today’s situation is not only the very large number of potential projects but also that the large majority of these are in just two countries – the US and Canada.
