From the installation of the first seismograph station in 1910 until today, the monitoring of seismicity and ground motions within South Africa has grown and developed to such an extent that it has made the Council for Geoscience one of the leaders in earthquake monitoring within Africa. This valuable experience which the organisation has built up over the years has put it in good standing and has made it a preferred supplier of services within this field, from advice and procurement of equipment to installing and maintaining seismograph stations and networks.
