The big news from Rhodes is that Prof. John Moore has announced his intention to take "early retirement" (at 64), after 19 years as the Professor of Exploration Geology, effective as of the start of 2010. John expects to maintain an active consulting and teaching presence in his retirement. The university librarians will likely breathe a sigh of relief as the shortcomings of their loan and filing systems will be less brazenly observed to them, in future. The advertisement for filling these enormous boots should be out later in September.
