Authors' response to letter to the editor 'Details on suicide among US physicians: Data from the National Violent Death Reporting System'

We thank Ms. McGuire and Drs. Moutier, Downs and Zisook for highlighting the innovative and multidimensional University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine Suicide Prevention and Depression Awareness Program. We applaud the focus on education and awareness as well as efforts to reduce the stigma of stress and depression among physicians and medical students [1].
