Coumarins from the seeds of Angelica sylvestris (Apiaceae) and their distribution within the genus Angelica

Angelica sylvestris L. (Apiaceae alt. Umbelliferae), known as "wild angelica", is a Scottish medicinal plant that grows normally in wet pastures, marshes, woods and cliffs, and is also distributed widely in other countries of Europe and temperate Asia (USDA-ARS GRIN database, 2003; Clapham et al, 1952; Flora Celtica, 2001). Seeds of this plant (cat. no. 15057) were purchased from a commercial seed supplier, B & T World Seeds Sarl, Paguignan, 34210 Olonzac, France. A voucher specimen (PP00001-02) has been deposited in the herbarium of Plant and Soil Science Department, University of Aberdeen, Scotland (ABD).
