The approach to the management of patients with a cystic lesion of the pancreas will remain controversial until we have a better understanding of the natural history of this malignancy and more accurate tumor markers. In the meantime, we will use the results of cytologyand tumor markers as outlined by van der Waaij et al to help establish a diagnosis.
