AEP Seeks $334 MM from U.S. DOE for CCS Project

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking US$334 million from U.S. Dept. of Energy?s "clean coal power initiative round 3" to pay about half the cost of a carbon dioxide (CO2) capture scheme at its "Mountaineer" coal-fired plant in West Virginia. The scheme would employ a chilled ammonia process to capture at least 90% of CO2 from 235 megawatts of the plant's 1,300 megaWatts of capacity.
