CompactGTL Inks 3,000 b/d GTL-FT Diesel Project Deal in Kazakhstan

UK-based CompactGTL announced March 10 that it signed a deal with Kazakhstan’s Oil Ministry for a 3,000 barrels/day gas-to-liquids (GTL) Fischer-Tropsch (FT) diesel plant. While CompactGTL didn’t disclose an estimated capex for the project in its announcement, the Sunday Times (UK) described the project as a US$300 million deal. However, asked for clarification on the Times report, CompactGTL manager Subby Bains told Gasification News on March 10 that “we cannot comment further on the capital cost as the project is commercial in confidence.” The plant would come on-line in 2017, according to CompactGTL. The new deal, described by CompactGTL as a “memorandum of cooperation,” was unveiled at the London Stock Exchange during the Caspian Corridor Conference.
