PetroSA to Shut Down GTL Refinery for Maintenance in September

PetroSA announced June 12 that it will shut down its 36,000-barrel-per-day Mossel Bay, South Africa gas-to-liquids (GTL) refinery on September 22 for a 37-day turnaround, in which all production activities will cease. “Products which will not be available during the shutdown include liquid petroleum gas, propane, carbon dioxide, liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen,” according to PetroSA. “PetroSA has made contingency plans for the availability of other products such as diesel and petrol for the Southern Cape supply area. “The statutory shutdown is aimed at ensuring the integrity of equipment and systems at the facilities, in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
